Strengthening Ourselves in Virtuous Living

My Worst Demon

Dear Virtue,

What do you do when your worst demon is  fear? Fear of failure that often manifests itself as a fear of: inadequacy; nothingness; unlovability; rejection; weakness.  Whatever face my demon takes on, it is a dark and lonely place to be. Fear is my unwelcome guest that freely takes up residence in my soul, heart and mind. So, what do you  do when fear is killing you? Killing your soul, he light in your eyes and squelching any potential of being anything other than an empty shell? How do you fight, and win, when the demon you fight lives inside of  you?

Sincerely,

Still Fighting

Dear Still Fighting,

Fear can be a scary and crippling thing. You are not alone in feeling or fighting fear. We all have fears we face; against some we come away victorious and against others we get held up.  Sometimes it’s not a matter of having no fear but a matter of having just a bit more faith then fear. Faith to believe that the critic’s voice inside us just might be wrong and to try to believe something else. The truth is that you are great and it’s not your nothingness you should fear but your greatness you should look to.  Your efforts to reach out and put a voice to your Demon, is a victory in the war you fight. Today you won a battle and with each battle you win, you will emerge victorious; a new “you” is born that is far from an empty shell.

“Don’t limit yourself and don’t let others convince you that you are limited in what you can do. Believe in yourself and then live so as to reach your possibilities. You can achieve what you believe you can. Trust and believe and have faith.”

Keep on Fighting,

Virtue.

Voices for Virtue, how do you fight your fears and win?
