The idea of using a CTR/purity ring
My name is Hannah Bergeson. I am from Boise, Idaho and I am 15 years old. To me virtue means to be clean, pure, and worthy to go to the temple, to be living your life to the best to your ability. And to have Chastity which means to not have sexual relations with anyone before your married and with no one but your spouse after your married. …
When I saw the ‘Hey Guys, Got Virtue?’ contest on Facebook I was really excited! I love photography and have been taking a photography class at school. And I just happened to be looking for another contest to enter. I was really excited when my teacher approved it. Now that I was doing the contest I had to figure out what I wanted to portray of a virtuous guy in my photograph. I told my older sister about the contest and that’s when we came up with the idea of using a CTR/ Purity ring for the symbol. We chose this because CTR rings are supposed to remind us to choose the right. And purity rings are a symbol that we will save ourselves for marriage. The ring in the picture can be either one. CTR, Purity, or even both. The ring does say CTR on it (it’s on the side)
Now that I figured out what I was going to do I just needed a model. (Which was really hard to find.) I posted on Facebook a couple times seeing if anyone was able or wanted to do. Everyone that wanted to do it wasn’t able to, because of how far away they lived from me or they didn’t have any time. I started talking to my mom and she said, “Well who is a good example of virtue to you?” I had never really thought about this. I thought and finally decided to do my cousin Mark. He is like my older brother, I look up to him and he is a great example of virtue to me. I thought it was perfect!!! But sadly he was not able to do it because of work.
So then my older sister told me her friend could do it. … His name is Tyler. I took him in my backyard and found a great spot for the back round. I had him do a few different poses. The last one I tried was the one I used. I told him to put his hand with the ring on in a fist and put it in front of him. I told him I was going to focus on the ring and have him more blurry in the back round. …
… Every time I looked at the picture I chose it grew on me more and more. I loved it because it showed strength, courage, and bravery. It showed someone who had the strength to overcome evil and stay virtuous. Someone who I would want to marry someday in the temple. He was masculine and not feminine which was important. It just seemed like the perfect picture…

I LOVE IT!
Virtue! Awesome thing to do and promote. I am married 3 years now and I now have a husband like this guy and he’s soo amazing.
It’s so good to see stuff like this that encourages that. My husband experienced getting picked on at work & even church. However he is masculine in the truest sense there is. Only virtuous principles can let that quality develop in a man or (woman for that matter.) Priceless. Keep up the great work, you’re efforts are priceless too. Respect from an Aussie in New Zealand! Thank You!
Fantastic picture!
Hannah,
Great picture and story to go a long with it, the photograph does give the message perfectly. I am glad that someone is speaking up, it seems now-a-days that people, outside of our religion, could care less. Good for you.
